Beaty Avenue Deep Energy Retrofit

Location: Toronto, ON

Client: Parkdale Activity Recreation Centre (PARC)

Architect of Record: Invizij Architects Inc

In this feasibility study for a rooming house in Toronto’s Parkdale neighbourhood, Invizij proposed deep-energy retrofit measures which would also improve tenant experience. The existing house was built circa 1907 and the proposed retrofit aims to extend the life of the building through masonry repair and restoration, structural reinforcing, and interior insulation measures compatible with existing assemblies. Additional improvements include new triple glazed windows, renovated washrooms, energy efficient mechanical equipment, and roof mounted photovoltaics.

The project has been submitted for a CGAH (Canada Greener Affordable Housing) grant with CMHC and is on hold, pending funding.
