This project involves the interior renovation of a former long-term care facility into 50 units of affordable housing in London, Ontario. The new design features a mix of studio and one-bedroom units, providing a safe and comfortable living environment for residents in this supportive housing community. The building includes a fully functioning large commercial kitchen to accommodate housing supports for tenants, along with a lounge and common room for social engagement. Staff offices for Indwell are also located on-site, ensuring the availability of ongoing support for residents.
The name ‘Coves Landing’ refers to a group of nearby oxbow ponds, which the city of London designated as an Environmentally Significant Area (ESA) due to its high species diversity. Artwork inside the building and on its window spandrels celebrates this unique context, showcasing local flora and fauna.
This project was possible because of a partnership with four local London developers and reflects a commitment to creating accessible, affordable housing within the community.
