What an honour! The council house restoration for the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation was just awarded a Governor’s award from the @nationaltrustca . Such an honour to be the architects for this wonderful project. We were able to focus on the cultural heritage of this building to its original governance use. Major upgrades to the building envelope included interior insulation, removing the crawlspace, and resolving moisture issues so it will continue to be a home for the council for the next 100 years.

Such a special day of celebration at the reopening of the Mississaugas of the Credit council house. We were honoured to be the architects that helped bring this historic building back to its original intent as a place of governance, with Just Working Construction leading the restoration and making it a reality. A big thanks to Ashley, Arland, Craig, Susan, Chief Claire Sault and the rest of Council. #migwetch to everyone!
The most special element is the table, which includes resin in the middle with sand from the MCFN’s territory including Toronto Island, medicine plants, and rocks from the Credit River.
Their first council meeting in the new space is happening this coming Tuesday.
Love this video of our second Hamilton ADU build with local charity IMBY. For this two storey, 2 bedroom backyard home they are working with Turkstra Lumber on panelized construction to speed up the process. This is affordable housing in action. Learn more about their model at @imbyhomes!

Very special day today. We were invited to the Ontario legislature to receive an OAA award, one of this year’s nine Queens Park picks. Big thanks to MPP Ernie Hardeman for nominating our @indwell.ca Harvey Woods Lofts, now home to 80 individuals in Woodstock, ON. Emma was joined by Graham, Justin and tenant Carol from Indwell to celebrate this honour. At the event were many MPPs and staff, other architects, folks from the OAA, and our hero Mike Schreiner. 💚
